Judicial Affairs

What We Do

The Judicial Affairs office strives to resolve allegations of student misconduct under the Student Code of Conduct in a manner consistent with the College’s values of fairness, honesty, and integrity and in alignment with our educational mission. In addition, we acknowledge the importance of balancing the interests of the individual student and the community at large as well as protecting the integrity of the College.

Guiding the Process

The College President has designated the Vice President of EMSA, Executive Director of Student Engagement and College Life, and Assistant Director of Judicial and Veterans Affairs, or other designee, as the persons responsible for the implementation of the Student Code of Conduct and the student conduct process at the College. They will coordinate the student conduct adjudication process to include individual student conduct meetings, the composition of the Hearing Committee, and the imposition of sanctions upon any student(s) found to have violated the Student Code of Conduct.

Decisions made by the Executive Director or Student Engagement of College Life, Assistant Director of Judicial and Veterans Affairs, or other designee, shall be final, pending the outlined appeal process.

Students, faculty, staff, and other community members wishing to file a complaint/incident report regarding the alleged inappropriate behavior (alleged violation of the Student Code of Conduct) of students, may do so by completing the online incident report form.  In the report, please make sure to include the sequences of events and any other relevant facts or background.  Please be as specific as possible regarding dates, times, students involved (include ID number if possible), and statements that were spoken (please use quotations).  All complaints need to be submitted in writing.  If you have any questions, please contact the Judicial Affairs Office at 845-574-4105.

The Judicial Affairs Office may reach out to you for clarification regarding your report.  Additionally, the Judicial Affairs Office will update you regarding the handling of the situation while maintaining the confidentiality of the student involved.  Please keep in mind, depending on the complexity of the situation this may take anywhere from a few days to longer periods of time.
